Weekend Fun for April 26-28

Come enjoy all the fun sched­uled for this weekend!

Jonesville:  Friday: Concert Series featuring Karl Weismantel at the Town of Tioga.  He will be performing in the square from 7-10 p.m. Admission is free and refreshments will be available for purchase. Karl Weismantel is a jazz guitarist and vocalists who has performed extensively as a soloist, bandleader and sideman at clubs, festivals, restaurants and for private occasions. His forte is playing jazz, popular, Latin and classical guitar style.  Bring your lawn chairs and blankets

High Springs: PIONEER DAYS Festival (37th Annual) this Saturday 9:30 – 5:00 and Sunday 10 – 4 at the James Paul Park.  There will have a shoot-out re-enactment, a Heritage Village with demonstrations and Antique Tractors.  While celebrating High Springs’ heritage, we also include aspects of a present -day spring festival so we’ll have food vendors, kids ‘activities and rides, and Fine Art and Craft Vendors.

 High Springs Community Theater – Neil Simon’s Rumors  – Friday and Saturday 8 PM, Sunday 2 PM

Alachua:  Swamp Dash and Bash Run, Windy Hill Farms, 13126 NW 174 Ave, Saturday.  www.swampdash.com, You’ll plow through miles of muck, jumping, climbing and crawling a gauntlet of goofy obstacles. Then after the mud run,  you can party at the big bash.

Alachua Women’s Club 7th Annual Golf Tournament:  Saturday at the Ironwood Golf Course 2100 NE 39th Ave, Gainesville FL from 8 -12.

Gainesville:  YMCA Healthy Kids Day, 22nd annual at the Northwood YMCA 5201 NW 34 Blvd, Gainesville from 10 -2, FREE admission for the community.

Gator Fly In  (3rd Annual) – Gainesville Regional Airport will host the third annual Gator Fly In from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Static aircraft and classic cars will be on display at the general aviation apron, located across the runway from the commercial terminal.  Access to general aviation is from Waldo Road.   You will have the opportunity to speak with pilots, take a closer look at military aircraft, or step inside the World War II Mustang hangar and sign up for a Discovery Flight over Gainesville. There will also be food vendors and a children’s activity area.

Newberry:  Firehouse Gallery presents their Artist of the Month, “The Forest of Memory” handmade paper by Judyfunk, Friday night from 5:30 – 7:30.  Light refreshments will be served. 

Newberry Farmers Market and Community Yard Sale:  Saturday 8 – 12 at the Railroad tracks. Tables for the yard sale are $5.

Weekend Fun: April 19-21

MUSTERING IN OF THE 7TH FLORIDA CSA INFANTRY: Friday – Sunday at the Dudley Farm Historic State Park from  9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..  The cost is  $5.00 per vehicle (up to 8 occupants) –

GHF Fitness Festival:  Friday at Kanapha Middle School from 5:00 – 7:00.  This is a FREE event.  One mile fun run at 5:00, Zumba at 6:00 plus much more.

Parade of Homes, 55th Annual, is FREE this year on Saturday & Sunday from 10:00 – 6:00.  You can start your tour at any parade location.

Farm & Forest Festival:  Saturday at Morningside Nature Center in Gainesville from 10:00 – 4:00.  Admission ranges from $3 – $5.

FL State & Sectional 3-D (Archery):  Saturday – Sunday at the Gator Bowmen Range

Jest Fest! Saturday at 6:00 at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza

“Silver Spurs & Stiletto’s”, STOP Children’s Cancer 25th Annual Fantasy Event:  Saturday at 7:00, Black Tie event.

Alachua Spring Festival, 11th Annual:  Sunday only on Main Street in Alachua from 11:00 – 5:00.

Music in the Park: Sunday in High Springs at the James Paul Park from 2:00 – 4:00.
